BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

Carter and Junior_edited.jpg

Carter Warr is running for Portola Valley Town Council to make a difference. With a deep understanding of the Town's history and a passion for community development, Carter aims to lead Portola Valley into the future by using his experience and the town's heritage as a guide to making the right decisions every time.

FAMILY and OPEN SPACE

Carter and his family moved to Portola Valley 36 years ago. He with Tami raised their daughter here attending Ormondale, Corte Madera, and the Woodside Priory School. Portola Valley is home to his family and his horses. As a horseman he is passionate about open space and access to Portola Valley's vast trail network.

VOLUNTEERISM

Carter is a long term volunteer for the Town with 22 years on the Architecture and Site Control Commission, several appointments to special adhoc committees, and a recent appointment to the Open Space Committee. He is passionate about protecting the Portola Valley Ethos while guiding development to fit into its environment.

IT IS TIME

At this point in life and the history of Portola Valley it is time to use his skills and common sense to help lead Portola Valley. Portola Valley is a special place where the majority of citizens agree on the majority of the issues. Carter will endeavor to help the Town share in the joy of our current silent majority consensus. We should all be happy and get along. He will provide skeptical inventive creativity to the few real problems the Town is enduring to find simple cost-effective solutions through coaching, negotiations, and engagement of the talented experts amongst our Portola Valley Family to answer the few problems that remain unresolved.

EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH THE ISSUES

As a resident of Portola Valley with 36 years of experience in the businesses of architecture and construction, Carter Warr is committed to using his skills and common sense to help lead the town through its current financial, personnel, and planning issues. Carter believes in bringing the community together to find simple cost-effective solutions to the few real problems the town is enduring. As a town councilor, Carter will represent constituents and protect the town's founding principles.

VISION FOR PORTOLA VALLEY

Carter envisions a Portola Valley that is inclusive, sustainable, and thriving. As a council member, he is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for all residents and creating a vibrant future for the town. This is a great space to learn more about Carter's vision for the town and how he plans to make it a reality.

COUNCILOR RESPONSIBILITY

A town councilor is principally to represent constituents and to protect the Town’s founding principles. Having been blessed to know and befriend the likes of Bill Lane and Bob Brown personally has given insight into the passion it took to protect the western hillsides of Portola Valley from highly intense development. Empathy and a desire to protect guides the process to find the common ground and the mitigation of the issues of substantial conflict. Carter has proven experience as an effective ASCC chair based on the skills of listening, leadership, empathy, good humor, communication, and mediation to lead and represent. Just the same skills needed for an effective Councilor.

GRATITUDE
It is with my humble thanks that I ask for your support in voting to grant me the opportunity to volunteer to guide Portola Valley. With your vote I commit to leading the Town to know the joy and blessing this wonderful place bestows upon us each day with the stalwart and tenacious promise to do the right thing every time, even if it is not easy. I will represent the people of Portola Valley first in every decision!
